⚫ Checkers
Checkers looks simple until you notice that jumps are mandatory. That single rule flips the game: instead of hunting for captures, you spend your time arranging positions where your opponent is forced into a capture that costs them more than it gains.
- 2 players
- Head to head
- Bots available
How to play
- Pieces move one square diagonally forward, onto dark squares only.
- If a jump is available anywhere on the board, you have to take it.
- A jump that lands you next to another capture continues in the same turn — multi-jumps can clear half a row.
- Reach the far row and your piece is crowned a king, which moves and jumps both directions.
How you win
Capture every enemy piece, or leave your opponent with no legal move at all.
Tips that actually help
- Because jumps are forced, offering a piece is a real tactic: give one up to set up a double jump back.
- Edge squares can’t be jumped from the outside. A piece on the edge is a safe piece.
- Don’t rush to crown. Advancing your back row early leaves holes that a king walks straight through.
In-game summary
Move diagonally forward. If a jump is available you must take it, and multi-jumps continue in the same turn. Reach the far row to crown a king, which moves both ways. Win by taking every piece or leaving your opponent with no move.
