⚪ Reversi
Reversi is famous for punishing greed. Taking the most discs on every turn is the fastest way to lose, because discs flip back just as easily as they flipped. What matters is which squares you hold, not how many.

How to play
- Place a disc so that it traps a straight line of your opponent’s discs between it and another of your discs.
- Every trapped disc in that line flips to your colour. Lines can run in any of the eight directions.
- A move is only legal if it flips at least one disc. If you have no legal move, you pass.
- The game ends when neither player can move — usually when the board fills up.
How you win
Have more discs than your opponent when nobody can move.
Tips that actually help
- Corners can never be flipped. Every corner you take is permanent, and worth giving up a dozen discs for.
- Avoid the squares diagonally next to a corner. Playing there usually hands the corner over.
- Fewer discs in the midgame is often good — it means you have more moves available and your opponent has fewer.
In-game summary
Place a disc so it traps a line of your opponent's discs between the new disc and one of yours — every trapped disc flips to your colour. You must play a move that flips something; if you have none you pass. When neither player can move, whoever has more discs wins.
