🟦 Dots & Boxes
Dots & Boxes is really a game about who runs out of harmless moves. Filling boxes is the fun part, but the skill is in the endgame, where every remaining line hands your opponent something and you’re choosing which gift is smallest.
- 2 players
- Head to head
- Bots available
How to play
- Take turns drawing one line between two adjacent dots.
- Complete the fourth side of a box and you claim it — and you take another turn immediately.
- Chains of boxes can be claimed in a single long turn.
- The game ends when every line is drawn.
How you win
Claim more boxes than your opponent.
Tips that actually help
- Never draw the third side of a box unless you have nothing safer left.
- Late in the game, count the safe moves left. Whoever runs out first has to open a chain.
- Sometimes you should deliberately leave two boxes uncaptured, forcing your opponent to open the next chain instead.
In-game summary
Tap between two dots to draw a line. Close the 4th side of a box to claim it — and you get another turn. Most boxes when the grid is full wins.
